May 8-10 2007 ForestLeadership Conference Early-Bird Registration Deadline Geared towards professionals and stakeholders committed to forest & paper sector sustainability, "Sustainability for Success," the May 8-10 2007 ForestLeadership Conference, provides a compelling means to take the pulse of critical sustainability trends, challenges and opportunities in North America. The event will focus on practical solutions to address key sustainability challenges faced by the forest and paper sector, both from a policy and a practical perspective. With some 150 confirmed registrations, the event is expected to draw an audience of over 300 delegates. Speakers include: The Honourable Rich Coleman, Minister of Forests and Range, British Columbia; - Hamish Kimmins, PhD, Professor of Forest Ecology, UBC; Carlton Owen, CEO, US Endowment for Forestry & Communities Inc. and Tom Katzenmeyer , Senior Vice President, Limited Brands Inc/Victoria’s Secret. The event will also feature five workshops on topics such as innovation development, carbon forestry, ecosystem based management, certified responsible procurement and forest management auditing. With an exhibit area, a luncheon and two receptions, the event will also offer great networking opportunities. Register by March 30! Scholarship Applications The Scholarship Program is designed to enable those who would not otherwise be able to afford the ForestLeadership Conference the opportunity to attend. It is designed for representatives from environmental groups, First Nations, forest-dependent communities, small non-industrial forestland owners, and academics (particularly students). Thanks to sponsorship from ForestEthics, Limited Brands, and Weyerhaeuser, we are able to provide conference and workshop scholarships for over 20 individuals. This year’s award recipients will be decided upon by a prominent jury, including Chuck Leavell, tree farmer and keyboardist for the Rolling Stones, as well as the 2006 recipient of the Communication Award; David Refkin, Director of Sustainable Development at Time Inc. and the 2005 recipient of the Leadership Award; and Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and former Executive Director of the Sierra Club of Canada.
