Message from the Conference Chair, Jean-Pierre Kiekens
The 2007 ForestLeadership Conference and associated workshops take place May 8th-10th in Vancouver, BC. The conference builds on a seven-year tradition of strategic events and takes place in the same venue as and just prior to the 20th PwC Global Forest & Paper Industry Conference.
Titled "Sustainability for Success," the 2007 ForestLeadership Conference will feature a high-powered program with prominent speakers from the US and Canada. On May 9th, keynote addresses and panel discussions will focus on solutions to the most salient sustainability issues faced by North America's forest & paper sector. Best available strategies and practices will be covered through a variety of perspectives, including government, industry, environmental groups, academics and independent experts. On May 8th and 10th, facultative workshops will be delivered by leading experts on a variety of topics such as ecosystem-based management, forest certification, responsible procurement, carbon management and innovation.
Beyond its plenary sessions and workshops, the ForestLeadership Conference provides tremendous value. A welcome reception on the 8th at 6 pm and a closing reception on the 9th will offer great networking opportunities, as will the luncheon on the 9th. An exhibit area featuring some 20 displays will provide an occasion for delegates to learn about new products and services.
The third ForestLeadership Awards Ceremony will be one of the event's highlights, as forest and paper sector sustainability leaders will be recognized for their outstanding achievements. This year's awards will be decided upon by a particularly prominent independent jury.
In sum, the 2007 ForestLeadership Conference will truly be a unique event. Join leading decision makers from the forest and paper sector, corporate executives, government officials, environmental group leaders, First Nations representatives, leading academics and other influential experts to learn about and discuss the best sustainability solutions for achieving success in North America's forest and paper sector.
Past participants agree; ForestLeadership Conferences are must-do events. I warmly welcome you to this year’s edition in beautiful Vancouver.
